The Sacrament of Matrimony
Celebrated Saturday Mornings
Marriage is based on the consent of the contracting parties who freely give themselves, each to the other, mutually in order to live a covenant of faithful and fruitful love. The sacrament signifies the union of Christ and the Church. It gives spouses the grace to live each with the love with which Christ loves has loved his Church. The grace of the sacrament strengthens the human love of the spouses and the unity of their marriage and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life.
Those wishing to be married at OLM must register with the Church at least six (6) months prior to the desired wedding date, and participate in OLM's Marriage Preparation process.
Marriage Preparation
OLM offers spiritual and practical preparation for the couple, as they undertake the Sacrament of Matrimony. The couple should contact OLM at least six (6) months before the desired wedding date.
Typically, the couple will meet twice with the priest or deacon who will be the Celebrant for the wedding. He will guide the couple through the Marriage Preparation process. At the first meeting, he will acquaint you with needed paperwork (e.g., Birth Certificate, Baptismal Certificate), the different options for marriage preparation, and help the couple to prepare themselves spiritually for this special sacrament.
