Mexico Mission
Twice Annually
We gather food and clothes for the desperate in Mexico. Come join us.
A Traveling Ministry
Twice a year OLM gathers rice and dried beans along with seasonal gifts and delivers by caravan
foodstuffs and goods to a community of people, who live in one of the dumps of Tijuana, Mexico.
These squatters are invariably from Central American countries who traveled to Mexico, hoping to
illegally enter the U.S., and did not make it across for whatever reason.
On Hold
The Mexican government periodically clears out the Tijuana dump of the squatters. This happened again in 2010. Until we can make contact again, for now, our mission is on hold.
Unable to return home, they
take up illegal residence on the only free land available in Mexico, the refuse heaps of Tijuana.
The Tijuana government periodically raid the dump towns and empty them. Other Mexican illegals
quickly reclaim the refuse lots for their own. The Tijuana government also provides free water and
turns a blind eye to the squatters who tap into live wires among the refuse heaps for electricity.
The crushing poverty is like any developing country, only this one is close to the U.S. and we
have chosen to visit it and offer a helping hand.
