The Sacrament of Penance
Saturday, 4:00 - 4:15 PM, Holy Thursday of Easter Week, and by special appointment
In the Gospel and in His life, Jesus shows the importance of the forgiveness of our sins. In the Catholic Church, the forgiveness of sin committed after Baptism is conferred by the sacrament of Penance. Penance consists in three actions of the penitent: repentance, confession of sins to the priest and the intention to make reparation for one's sins and the priest's absolution. Returning to God, conversion, includes sorrow for one's sins and the firm resolve of sinning no more in the future. Only priests can forgive sins in the name of Jesus Christ and reconcile individuals with the Church.
Confessions are heard by the priest just before the Saturday evening 5 PM Mass from 4:00-4:45 PM and by special appointment.
