The Sacrament of Confirmation
Celebrated at the Easter Vigil (annual)
Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace: it is the sacrament whick gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in relationship with God, to draw us more firmly into Christ, to strengthen our bond with Church and bring us more closely into living her mission. Confirmation helps us to bear witness to the Christian faith in words as well as deeds.
Confirmation imprints a spiritual mark on the soul; for this reason this sacrament can be received only once in one's life. At Confirmation, a diocesan Bishop welcomes the candidates as fully initiated members of the Catholic Christian community by anointing each one with chrism (holy oil). Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of the Rite of Christian Initiation that define our Christianity.
Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year process and a life-long journey.
