St. John's Health Center will present a free community education program, "Healthcare Decisions- Your Decisions Matter-Make Your Wishes Known" on Wednesday, April 14 at 6:30pm and repeated on Thursday, April 15 at 2:00pm at the Santa Monica Public Library, MLK Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica. Parking is available in the structure off 7th Street for $1/hour. This community forum will provide a clinician's perspective on end-of-life medical issues, a review of advance healthcare directives including POLST, and information on estate planning-living trust, wills, durable power of attorney, as well as legal issues in healthcare directives. Free advance healthcare directives available to those attending.

Dr. Paul Contino
Paul J. Contino is Professor of Great Books at Pepperdine University. Before coming to Pepperdine, he received his Ph.D. at the University of Notre Dame, after which he taught for twelve years at Christ College, the honors college of Valparaiso University. Now beginning his eighth year at Pepperdine, he serves with his wife, Maire Mullins, as Co-editor of the journal Christianity and Literature. In 2006, he was awarded the Howard A. White Award for Teaching Excellence. His work has appeared in Religion and Literature, Studies in the Novel, Renascence, Religion and the Arts, The Cresset, Commonweal, America, Image and The Christian Century. He and Maire have two daughters, Mai Rose and Teresa Marie.
